I've been climbing at Savassona, near Vic, a place well known for its sandstone bouldering.
The patches and bands in the rock come from its sedimentary geological formation. The different colours (ochre, reddish, grey) come from variations in the minerals, above all iron oxides. Some marks are also due to weathering: water, wind and lichens alter the surface over time. This process creates unique textures, which give every boulder its own grip and character.
Beyond its sporting value, the area stands out for its natural and heritage interest.
